1994

Our journey began in 1994, when we were established to serve as the U.S. private equity and real estate investment partner for a Western European business family with an entrepreneurial heritage dating back to 1833.

1998 to 2002

As we grew, in 1998 we became part of Lehman Brothers, helping downstream energy sector businesses access capital and strategic advice, now as part of a $280 billion global financial institution. 

2002 to 2010

In 2002, backed by Defoe Fournier & Cie., we separated our business from Lehman Brothers, as Defoe Redmount, proceeding to invest private equity in middle market businesses.

2010 - 2020

To extend and grow our capabilities, we strategically co-founded or invested in financial firms focused on enabling success in the middle market.

TODAY

Our business spans private equity, corporate strategy, capital markets, investment securities, asset management, research & analytics, operating across five business units and 12 time zones, with the mission of empowering the middle market.

Milestones

 

1994: Our firm was founded as Credit Sovereign by Armen A. Grigorian in Atlanta to serve as the U.S. private equity and property investments correspondent for a Western European business family
During 1994 and 1998 we facilitate acquisitions and management of over 21 hotels across the United States, including the historic The Blackstone Hotel of Chicago
1996: Our 1st non-hospitality asset recapitalization deal was serving as correspondent for Nomura Securities CMBS loan for Venture Cinema Center in Atlanta GA
1997: We become Credit Sovereign Brown & Sons, Inc. as a result of the merger with Brown & Sons Realty
1997: Our first sale-leaseback transaction was the portfolio of gas stations acquired by RDOC, Inc. and Fuel Marketing, Inc. from Chevron, Shell and Phillips Petroleum.
One of our first sale-leaseback transactions was for Nanston Dental Clinics in 1997, followed by over 10 transactions and fueling their growth to over 30 locations.
During 1998 and 2002 we were part of Lehman Brother providing capital and strategic advice to downstream energy middle market businesses
2002: Our business was separates from Lehman Brothers, backed by Defoe Fournier & Cie., to form Defoe Redmount
2003: Our 1st financial sector transaction was the sale-leaseback of a portfolio of RBC Centura Bank branches, fueling the bank's growth throughout 5 U.S. states.

2006: Our first industrial sector strategic recapitalization and PE investment deal was the acquisition of QFI, Inc. and Excel Metals to form QXL Metals.
2006: Our private equity investment team
2006: Our team members with Congressman Tim Murphy (R, District 18) on the floor of QXL Metals in Pittsburgh.
2017: As a significant strategic shareholder we co-found Adriatic Capital Partners d.o.o., a Zagreb, Croatia-based merchant banking firm.
2007: Our Research & Analytics Desk team
2015: As a significant strategic shareholder we co-found Redmount Capital Partners in Newport Beach, CA
2018: As a significant strategic shareholder we co-found Epic Property Partners in New Orleans, LA.
2019: We execute our first private equity co-investment with an independent sponsor as we back Fairchild Capital Partners in the buyout of Weco Manufacturing
2020: We obtain significant strategic ownership in Dimension CJSC, a capital markets player in frontier CEE
2022: As a significant strategic shareholder we co-found Redmount Mergers & Acquisitions in Newport Beach, CA
